Random rest....Cozumel and Roatan
I should in fact just go to my old blog (September 2013) and update the Magnum blog...which i will do....but i will also add them to this blog...as you might know wherever kim and i go, we see what Magnum flavours there are, and if there are any new ones....we try them out...and judge them...here in Cozumel, Mexico, we found three "new" ones...let me share them with you....
Apple crumble: white coating with crumble in it, apple and cinnamon ice-cream....it is ok, not my best...a but on the sweet side.
Caramel creme brulee: milk chocolate with caramel splinters and creme brulee ice-cream...verdict....I LOVE it....
Strawberry and chocolate: milk chocoate with nuts and strawberry and chocolate ice-cream....i do not like it at all, but then again, i do not like fruits covered in chocolate...except for banana..so this was no surprise....
Enough about Magnums....on one of our visits to Roatan, i finally had my cocounut milk served in a coconut....it was so cool....i was allowed to choose my coconut, then they sliced it open infront of me and gave me a straw...the cocount milk was not my favourite...but i loved the whole idea of drinking it fresh from a real coconut...hahaha.....let me share a pic....
After i had finished my drink...i brought my coconut back and asked the guy to cut it open so that i could eat what was inside. Somehow, i expected it to be hard...like i know coconut...but in fact it was slimy and soft...i was so confused...and it was not as nice as the hard coconut...now i guess you want to know why......here is the answer....
A young coconut is better for juice since it has more than an older coconut but it is soft on the inside. Older coconuts have less juice and much more to actually eat. So if you want to eat coconut, get a brown one (old). If you want to drink coconut juice, get a green one (young). Hence, if they are green they are young and thus they are moist and mooshy. If they are mature, they are brown and hard.
After that...we had lunch at our usual spot...Captain Jack's and for once we did not have the conch ceviche...we had the garlic conch with soft plantaition.....man...it was sooooo delicious...really yummy...and i love when the plantaition is soft as opposed to crunchy (like in Belize). Yes, i do have a pic which i will share with you....
So yes...once again...Captain Jack's is a MUST visit if you are ever on that side of Roatan island in Honduras. Kim also found a small Cigar shop that rolls their own cigars...he tried one...and then the next time he went back to buy some more cause he said they were actually quite good....they are apparently double rolled...let me share a pic....(i think they look nice, hahaha).
That almost concludes my random rest...except for...our last dinner onboard...in fact the 1st April is when we got married last year...so a celebration dinner was in order.....i wished for Cagney's because i really wanted to try the lobster. So, on our anniversary we went to Cagney's. Starters was the chicken drumsticks....mains...we shared two things..the whole lobster with a butter sauce and the creamy linguini with shrimps and lobster tail...and oh my word....the lobster was soooo yummie....loved it...let me share some pics...
The linguini was ok, i would not order it again...also, i would have the prawns on top, like the lobster tail, NOT swimming in the sauce. The sauce was also too oily (as you can see on the pic), but the whole lobster...most definitely worth it and most definitely i would have that again. Dessert was the apple crumble...and guess what...even Sofia was allowed to try ice-cream...and guess what...like her Pappa, she loves it.
So that concludes Sofia and my 5 weeks onboard, we are off home and in one week also kim comes home, really looking forward to spending some time back home in Italy. So for now...cheers...enjoy the rest of your weekend.
