Houston.....Texas

Oh my.....finally here....well yes...and no....could have been a hell of a lot worse.....let me start...we got up this morning at 3:15...that is am....not pm....why so early...well i had to shower, get Sofia ready and of course sterilize her bottles etc...and trust me...if you have a baby, getting ready takes just is a little bit longer.....but...we managed to leave, as planned , 4am...in fact is was 4:04....flight 7:05 from Florence.

Our journey started with a cappuccino at the Firenze airport...and I am sorry, but I do not have a pic....it was Illy coffee, it was strong, foam was thick...but way too little...but not a bad cappuccino at all...price...€1.60. I had decided to bring my Stokke snuggly for the journey and i handed in the new Chicco pram and one luggage...arrival...Houston....best decision. Let me share a pic.....(it is not the best...but Sofia was so happy that she actually could not sit still, hence the blurry-ness)....

Sofia in her Stokke snuggly

First flight with Air France from Firenze to Paris....1hr 50min....Sofia...the absoloute star that she is...slept most of the way....breakfast consisted of an apple (from home) and a brioche with chocolate....a little dry in my opinion.....we left late in Firenze due to not being able to locate a passenger....so i was a little nervous for Paris connection cause we only had 1.5hrs....

Once we arrived in Paris....Sofia in her snuggly...we made our way from terminal F to terminal E....our gate, of course, the last one....quite a walk...and as we arrived we boarded....so...good timing....again....another Air France flight...row 23....and we were lucky....the plane was quite empy and the seat next to us was empty...very convenient.

And........drum roll.....Sofia was an absoloute star....she slept 5.5hrs and was awake 5.5hrs....of course not in one go...scattered throughout the flight. She truely was amazing...i cannot complain at all....in fact i was in absoloute awe...i was speechless.....she sat on my lap...she played...i managed to eat...we slept a little....i played cross words while she slept....we changed dipers every 3 hrs....time went...but i must say...quite slow...a day flight is really not that easy...especially 11hrs, but because sofia was a star, it made it a hell of a lot easier. Here is a pic of Sofia being so happy in her airplane chair....

Happy camper, Sofia, in her airplane chair
Lunch...vegetable lasagne or chicken with a creamy mushroom sauce...for me NO question....chicken with the mushrooms sauce, served with mashed potato and carrots....really good....then there was also a nartjie, a camembert (brand: presidente), a prune pudding and a grain salad....i enjoyed the nartjie, the main and of course the cheese....and now here is something funny...the lady that sat on the other isle (after the empy seat), saw i was loving the nartjie and camembert, so she gave me hers...that has never happened to me...but i definitely appreciated...cause i definitely ate it...i would NEVER say NO to cheese.....and all this was accompanied by champagne.
During the flight, we were served ice cream (not for me), toasted wrap (not for me), fruit salad (yes, please) and cheese (yes, please)....so yes, i was happy....
In Houston, we are staying one night at th Marriot Hotel at the airport before boarding the ship in the morning. Sofia was so happy to get out of her clothes....check out this smiler...
Finally at the hotel
She fell alseep at 17:00....let's see how long she will sleep and how she will manage jet lag....follow my blog and you will know the answer....for now you can guess. Of course she had a bath first, took her bottle and slept. Me, i was dying of hunger, so i ordered a glass of prosecco and a fillet & blue cheese salad (i had it at the restaurant last time and it was great). This time, room service so that Sofia could sleep.....steak..medium rare....i was sceptical whether it really would come medium rare, especially given that i ordered room service....and wow...it did, prosecco cold....fillet warm and medium rare...it was spectacular...i really enjoyed it...here is a pic... (I don't think it does all the justice, but i was not in the mood to re-take, i was HUNGRY)...,
Steak and blue cheese salad (dressing was on the side, missing in the pic)
So...from me goodnite...it is only 7pm...but i am going to sleep...jet lag...and i want a good long sleep....so...goodnite....but before...my point of the blog...Mariott Hotel at the airport is fabulous...and of course...be confident, believe in your baby...and you will manage to travel alone with your baby...but really give the snuggly a good thought, best decision.
