Franschhoek....part II

Wow...wot a cool place...it was Halloween night...waiters are dressed as Draculas, white faces, black clothes...and the vibe in the place so cool...the decor (which by the way is always so funky, not just on Halloween), amazing....i was just like wow...wow....wow....we sat in the terrace section upstairs (inside terrace section)....our waiter phenomenal, food exceptional (large starter protions)....everything was just right.....

Here is a pic

The name of the place....Bombay Bicycle Club....on Kloof Street....now..this restaurant belongs to Madame Zingara....so now that i have said that you know that decor is definitely strange, wierd and cool...and food is great....when we ordered the starter, the waiter informed us the sizes were rather larger, so we ended up having 2 starters (for 3 ladies)....we ordered the beef carpaccio and the prawn wontons....both divine....

Mains...my mom and i both had the vension with an olive tapenade and my friend, Bronwyn ordered the line fish....we received side dishes for the table....butternut, broccoli with dijon mustard sauce and potato bake with mushroom...just fab....all the food perfectly cooked and great tasting....

Dessert....no space....yes, some coffee...but not for me...so i cannot give a verdict...what i found amazing was the fact that the coffee took some time..manager came and apologized for delay as they struggled to find some decaf and in the end he stated...not to worry...coffee is on the house (and in all honesty, it did not take longer than about 7minutes...so that was actually not even a problem...but amazing service).....

So yes, we all said we would def go back...really enjoyed it...

My mom and i also tried out one more thing which was new....the wine tram....it is a hop on hop off tram combined with bus....it was drizzling on that day but we did not care and did it anyway...it costs R140pp and it is at every stop every 40min...it starts in franschhoek, then first stop is hugenout museum then Haute Cabriere, dieu donne, chamonix, rickety ridge, grande provence...and finito...we went to haute cabriere...yes, we know it well...but we love the bubbly...and we even tasted some that we did not know...loved them...my favourite is brut sauvage....

Pierre jourdin

After that it was time for dieu donne....nice view...actually great view..just a pity the weather...rainy...and misty...we were allowed to taste 5 wines....of course we tasted the bubblies...and they were ok...nothing spectacular....after 40min we moved on to chamonix....was a quaint little wine tasting area...really in the cellar...cosy...was great and mom and i ended up for 3x40min as we decided to have lunch there and we were just enjoying ourselves so much...the wines were fab and the food amazing...also great presentation....we ordered various things....crispy fried calamari...fresh breads...a trout plate (trout fish cakes, trout tartar and trout gravalax)....and then we also ordered a cheese platter...that in all honesty i was quite disappointed...there is so many cheese farms around and somehow they did not source the nicest cheeses....

After that we changed from the bus to the tram.....

We went to Rickety Ridge...i was not impressed...we were fetched with a safari jeep and brought to the farm...which wasted a lot of the 40min (ride there and back) and the farm did not really have an atmosphere....and also wines were not so great....the last one, grande provence...we did not do as we were running out of time as my mom and i needed to catch our plane to Jhb....hahaha.....would i do the tram/bus again....prob not...but we did discover some new farms which are nice....so yes...was worth it...so...yes...my mom and i had a great few days away...loved it....now off to some dinner...im getting hungry....hmmm....what will dinner be......let's see.....
