Il Madonnino dei Monti

As promised...our local spot....how did we discover it...well, very easy, it is at the end of our dirt road (the other side of the Montisi). It is about 2.5km from the house....very convenient and one night we decided to give it a shot....and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. it is nothing fancy (the decor could definitely improve a little, cause it is a little cold).....the owner (i assume) is very friendly and by now greets Sofia with the biggest welcome when she comes...in fact I must say, Italians are extremely child-friendly.

Now let me share a few pics....

Outside Sign...in case you would like the number (open everyday except for Wednesday evening)

Front side of the menu (more Pizza and Dessert on the back side)

The first night we were there we indulged in various Pizzas, including the Bufala (Margherita but with Bufala mozzarella), Wurstel (Vienna sausages) , Proscuitto e Funghi (ham and mushrooms) and Fresco (cherry tomatoes, rocket and parma ham)....and we all thought the Pizzas were delicious, the base was thinnish, crispy, the ingredients were enough...it was very yummie....we had decided that night that we would definitely go again...and yes, we have been back (in fact we have tried another few Pizza places and so far this is definitely the best).....other Pizzas which we have tired was the Quattro Stagioni (olives, artichokes, ham and mushrooms), Cappricciosa (ham, mushrooms and artichokes), Tirolese (gorgonzola and Speck: which is like parma ham but smoked), Siciliana (anchovies and capers)....and so far...none have disappointed...in fact the one that really took me by surprise was the Tirolese....it was absolutely delicious....my least favourite so far....the Wurstel (I am not a fan of Vienna sausages on a Pizza)....of course I do have some pics which I am able to share with you...

 Quattro Stagioni

Fresca

you might be asking yourself...is that all they have tried there....and the answer is no...we have also tried the antipasto plate....specifically, Antipasto di Madonnino (various cold cuts, various brushetta, various peccorini cheeses and the special from the chef)....we have also tried the Antipasto toscano (various cold cuts and various cheeses and various brushetta)...but we prefer the Antipasto Madonnino....very delicious...and great way to start your meal...definitely for sharing....probabl yone for four people....let me share a pic...
Antipasto di Madinonnino

Yes, we have also tried the Pasta....also delicious...the favourite so far...the Pappardelle al Ragu di Cinghiale...then again, the only other one we have tried was the Pappardelle al Ragu Bianco which is basically a creamy based ragu as opposed to the traitional tomato based ragu. I would not have it again, I definitely prefer the traditional one.

Ragu di Cinghiale
When we normally go there we have the house red wine or the house frizzante, it is delicious and hence we do not see the need to try anything else. Desserts, we have not managed yet...maybe next time....so for me...I say cheers...next blog, well let's see what inspiration I will find.
