Mauritius
So...I truly believe in having a good holiday before the new year
starts again...work starts again...well real life starts again...so as
mentioned...between Christmas and New Year we stayed at home, made a small trip
to the Midlands and Drakensberg, but in January it was time to get a little bit
of sunshine, beach, pool and doing absolutely nothing....so the decision was to
go to the Club Med in Mauritius....Plantation d'Albion.....
I must say....what a beautiful resort, it was well organised, here
is an example. When we arrived in the morning, the rooms were not ready, so we
got a room for the day which allowed us to shower and change and then late
afternoon we got our real room...beautiful size...actually large, around
50m2....the bathroom could be open to be a part of the bedroom and lounge or it
could be closed with a wooden sliding door...fabulous....the
resort....divine.....
Food....well let's start by telling you how it works...Club Med is
an all inclusive package, from drinks to food....in the morning there was a
breakfast buffet from 7:30am to 10:00 then there was an a la carte restaurant
(by the adult pool) from 10:00- 11:30.
Lunch in the main buffet area was served as well as the a la carte
restaurant (just different times) and dinner again, either at the main buffet
or the a la carte....it was great..
Kim and my day was pretty standard:
Breakfast....Kim and I didn't manage to get up for the main buffet
so every morning we had breakfast at the a la carte....omelette, fruit plate,
fresh rolls with BANANA JAM, you name it.....
Then it was time for lounging at the pool, doing nothing...reading
and swimming, the pool was around 25m and around 34 degrees, beautiful.......

Lunch was at the a la carte restaurant cause before 14:00 we were
not hungry....always a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 dessert (one dessert
was always the cheese plate, which of course, I decided to take all but one
day)....from Caprese salad to seafood salad to bacon and mushroom
tarte...amazing.....
Seafood Salad
Then....some more lounging at the pool...
Dinner....before some pre-drinks at the bar where they had
beautiful canapés....every night different....most nights we decided to have at
the main dinner buffet (2 nights were spend at the a la carte
restaurant).....why...cause the buffet food was outstanding.....lobster, sushi,
huge cheese selection, cold meats, salmon....it was honestly delicious...in my
next blog I will tell you about the a la carte dinner.....

As you can see...we had a holiday of just relaxing, sleeping,
eating and bathing in the sun...i think it was what we all needed, to re-fuel
before the new year...I would go back any time to this Club Med....it was
honestly great...I know I mentioned it a few times but it truly was.....one day
it was a little rainy, so went to Port Louis, but it is not worth mentioning, a
few shops, nothing worth buying though and the food we ate there...total rip
off and it was not great.....so....don't bother about stopping in Port Louis
:-)
Now...time to go dream about my distant vacation :-)
