Franschhoek....part II

Image
Wow...wot a cool place...it was Halloween night...waiters are dressed as Draculas, white faces, black clothes...and the vibe in the place so cool...the decor (which by the way is always so funky, not just on Halloween), amazing....i was just like wow...wow....wow....we sat in the terrace section upstairs (inside terrace section)....our waiter phenomenal, food exceptional (large starter protions)....everything was just right..... Here is a pic Bombay bicycle club outside Bombay bicycle club encore outside Inside Bombay bicycle club The name of the place....Bombay Bicycle Club....on Kloof Street....now..this restaurant belongs to Madame Zingara....so now that i have said that you know that decor is definitely strange, wierd and cool...and food is great....when we ordered the starter, the waiter informed us the sizes were rather larger, so we ended up having 2 starters (for 3 ladies)....we ordered the beef carpaccio and the prawn wontons....both divine.... Beef carpaccio ...

Yes...there will be two parts again...my mom and i decided to take a few days girl time in Cape Town...we chose a hotel in Mouille Point...location was good...but there is a hell of a lot that could be done to improve the hotel...we literally just slept there...so it was ok...but to actually stay longer...no way....it was a little run down and staff was unfriendly....the name was Splendido.....so our aim was to relax, enjoy various tastings (wine, choc, cheese) and good food....so that is what we did over the next few days we did quite a few tastings....and this blog is about the tastings that my mom and i discovered.... Waterford: Choc and Wine tasting....they paired three chocs with three wines....2 dark chocs each with a red wine and then a milk choc with a dessert wine.... Wine and choc tasting at Waterford I loved the exprerience...for me the first 2 chocs with the red wines worked fabulous...the last choc and the dessert wine did not work for me..the milk choc was enhance...

Some places we have been checking out....

So of course we have gone to some places again....some new...some old...but i think worth mentioning them...i mean an old place can get worse or better....and a new place can be a distaster....so i might as well discuss them all....and if you are not interested....tough luck.....so lets start.... Pomodoro (Morningside Shopping Centre): An old favourite...always go back..and i always find something..but then again that is because i love my carpaccio and i love my carprese....and yes...i love the fact that one can have a half portion pasta for mains....so...this time...nothing fails me having the carprese....and my mom decided on the prawns and we would go half half...dad and kim...fried calamari...apparently it was excellent...kim didnt even give me time to try....was all finito by the time i could think about trying....prawns were excellento....and of course carprese as always good....for mains kim and my dad had the veal milanese...last time kim was jealous cause he thought my dad...

How nice to come home to SA for a little bit....of course braais were needed and wanted....filet, springbok loin, lamb chunks, de-boned whole chicken.....what more could you ask for.....and no, that was not all on the same night....excellento foodies....in my next blog im gonna write about a couple of places i have gone to whether it be coffee or dinner...kim was of course so excited to drive the Harley again that we did a day trip up to Pretoria....why there...cause it is Jacaranda season....purple trees everywhere....unfortunately not indigenous to SA but one of the symbols of Pretoria between October and November....and i have to admit, yes i am embaressed, that i have never gone and seen them.....of course we also have in Joburg but never to the extend like they are in Pretoria....so up we drove on the highway...first towards the street....Herbet Baker, where there are the white Jacaranda trees...they were nice...but nothing....wow..... Kim, the bike and the white Jacaranda tree...
