Home time

Yes...terrible how i havent kept you up to date....but honestly i have been chilling a lot...which i cannot really write about...and then we went to the bush which i will write about...but then there was no signal...not even 3g....so lets first start with some days at home when i got back from Switzerland.....

Yes of course there was all the maintenance...nails...hair....toe nails....facial.....all ticked and seeing friends...from amazing prawn curry to drinks at the Baron to coffee at Vide....and wow....it was so damn good to finally get a coffee with thick foam....man i just miss that.....also coffee at woolies....so thick foam....it is just so good......love it....and no...i wont bore you by going on and on.....but one last comment....AMAZING foam....

So...two occasions i did take pics...i have been kind of bad...so lets talk about the occasions which i managed to take some pics....first one....at the moment African Cup of Nations is happening...Did you know that? so of course there was the opening match and of course even if you are not a soccer fan...lets show some enthusiasm towards our country..So my parents decided to have some friends over for the opening ceremony and opening match and all the ladies would bring something towards an anti pasta Italian buffet (best thing...you could eat all evening and it wasnt getting cold and you could eat wherever...).....i made two quiches...yes...the usual ones.....bacon, feta, caramalized onion and spinach and feta......i also made meatballs (all from scratch), marinated olives and carprese skewers.....Claudia brought a huge cold meat platter...from parma ham to gypsy ham to salami....amazing...but there was one cold meat which i fell in love with...now i forgot the name....i must ask her...so good...couldnt get enough of it.....brigitte made roasted courgettes and aubergines and stuffed tomatoes.....man....everything just so damn good....yes...and here are some pics....im sure you will get hungry just looking at it...damn......enjoy.....

So....now to the second occasion....we have not gone to a lot of restaurants cause what i crave is home food.....but one restaurant i wanted to try....we went to go and try Licorish at Nicole Way...heard starters are amazing...mains so so...heard from someone else all food is great....so let me go check it out and make up my own mind and give my 50c of opinion...setting is stunning....we got a table for three on the side with couch-like chairs....so cool....so starters we decided to go for 2 between the 3 of us....one was crispy chillie calamari and one was the salmon carpaccio....both definitely will be eaten again....really loved it....here are the pics....

For mains we all had very different things....i had seared tuna with a wasabi sauce while my dad had sirloin and my mom tried the taster plate of fish...consisting of salmon fish cake, tempura hake and prawn and scallop samoosa...she loved it and in actual fact we all loved the food.....and what better way than complement it with some bubbly....Simonsig....excellento....here is a pic of the tasting plate and the seared tuna...also love the presentation.....the tuna is sitting on top of a potato rosti........

Because all the meals were so amazing we decided to try their signature dessert....warm strawberry crumble with liquorice ice cream....im not a liquorice fan but this dessert was damn good...and i loved the presentation again....here is a pic of the little strawberry crumble dessert pot....

What a nice restaurant and im defintely coming back....yummy.....so other than eating, maintenace and seeing friends i have also played some golf and i sadly have to say the rounds i have played have not been very good....quite embarressed....hopefully they will improve soon....damn......but first 10 days home have been really nice and have passed very quickly....now its time for kim to arrive....so excited.....cheers for today....

Oh my word....my sister, who wanted to be a nun (inspired by the movie Sister Act), is getting married....and to a guy that suites her perfectly.....we started getting reAdy around lunch time...make up artist, Victor Ortega, was flown in from Manila. He did my sister's, my mom's and my makeup....but now a few steps back...this wedding pre- celebration started on Wednesday night with a Swiss family dinner, Thursday night a pub crawl and Friday night a close family (Aboitiz and Bucher) at a Spanish tapas place (where the food was amazing...first time i tried nero paella)....but to the pub crawl we get later..... So, lets do this blog a little different....when you go to Hong Kong, this is my top 10 highlights, things i think you must do (not any particular order): 1. Junk boat cruise (1 hour) 2. Dim sums at Maxims Palace City Hall 3. Deep Fried Pork Bun at Tim Ho Wan 4. Shopping (not neccessarily to buy but just to see) 5. Flute bar in Soho (such a variety of cocktails) 6. Armani Prive bar (rooftop bar) 7. Tram to Victoria Peak 8. Lamma island and of course that includes the hike and seafood 9. Under the bridge crab (garlic crab) 10. Nightmarket with eating local food which includes 1000 year old egg So...now some of those i have done this time in Hong Kong and some i did last time.....so lets do this way..im going to split my experience in Hong Kong in 2 parts, otherwise this blog will be endless.....but im gonna go through all top 10 attractions.... Podere il Casale

Beautiful place near Monticchiello in the Southern Tuscany. My parents, together with Mutti and Sofia went there whilst Kim and I were in Corsica. They raved about it, stating that it was Swiss owned and they met the couple who owns and runs it. They are actively involved and so are their children. Their food is produced on the farm, they are famous for their Pecorino cheese. They also offer Pizza and bread courses, camping etc etc....in fact i was really looking forward to visiting this place. They have outdoor and indoor seating but i must say the outdoor seating cannot be compared to the indoor hall. The outside is quaint, picturesque and has breath-taking views. There is quite a long dirt road following up to Podere il Casale....its not so easily found. The sign at the entrance is also not too good.
