La Botte Piena

Let's start by saying...better delayed than never...why do I start like that...because in fact we were at this restaurant about 3 weeks ago....we had friends from South Africa who were here to visit us for the weekend...three very cool ladies, so we decided to take them out one night to La Botte Piena and one night to Madonnina (Pizza). They spilt us by bringing us Rusks from South Africa and Marzipan from Barcelona....yummie....i guess i should share some pics...just so you get a lottle bit jealous...

Marzipan
Now...more food....so..on Saturday night we went to La Botte Piena (this is where we were for New Year). First decision...wine and bubbly...Tracy (the one friend) picked the bubbly which came from the famous Valdobiadene region while my dad picked the vino rosso....a Brunello di Montalcino. In Montalcino the name Brunello evolved into the designation of the wine produced with 100% Sangiovese grape.
First we received an amuse bouche....a cheese profiterol....delicious....for me there just should have been something gren or red on top...just for presentation.....Antipasto was a mixture of cold cuts and formaggio....pecorino of course (varying from soft to very hard....parmesan like)....also divine....let me share some pics....

Salumi e formaggio
Mains....varioud from tagliata di manzo (sliced beef ) to brasato di guancia di chianina (braised cheek) to cotoletto di maiale (pork chops)....and we all thought it was delicious....again...the presenation was lacking a little...especially on the braised cheek...ther definitely should have been something colourful, because when you see the pick you migh think...hmmm...does not look so good....but trust me..taste...sensational...but...very rich...on New Year the portion of course was much smaller...and I must say sufficient...this main was too big cause it was so rich...the slices beef delicious...sorry picture was forgotten and it was also beautifully presented. The pork...that my friend Liezl had, she said was very nice...pic looks good...i cannot comment on the taste...hahaha....but let me share the two pics i do have....

Braised cheek (in the background you see one of the side orders, roasted peppers)
Would we go back...yes...so overall a good experience...but I must say quite pricey. Dessert...nope...cause we thought we would rather go home for some Grappa, caffe, tee and cookies....it was a fabulous evening out and the ladies also enjoyed it...fun-filled evening.
That concludes this blog...short and sweet....next up...let's see..maybe one on cappuccino...or.....let's see what inspires me....so cheers...enjoy the rest of your Valentines day.
