My venture

This will be short and sweet.....in the morning we opted not to have breakfast at the hotel but rather explore one of the patisserias around....a local spot....breakfast consited of the a mini beignet, a mini "raisin" and a tarte des pommes....and two cappuccini......the coffee was good, not what one would call a cappuccino though, and the sweets were amazing...especially the beignet and the apple tarte....just sooooo yummie...i think i have not eaten so many sweets as on this vacation....time to eat savoury things back home in bella Italia. Anyway....let me share a pic of our breakfast.... Today would ne the day we wee moving hotels again.....this time making our way from Calcatoggio through Corte to Bastia.....of course including some smaller villages in the Castagniccia region, namley Morosaglia and La Porta. We were lucky with the weather...another beautiful day....sun shining and it would reach 30 degrees in Bastia....we left around 9:30 and made our way to Corte...the natural park of Corsica (Parc Naturel Regional de Corse) around Corte coveres more than a third of the island, and is home to many scenic spectacles, a lot of those are discovered more on foot but the drive for us was beautiful again...very different scenery...a lot of dense forrests and woodlands hiding tiny villages. In fact some of the smaller one definitely does not encounter many tourists. Corte, however, had quite a few tourists as it is quite a big city. As promised....another roundtrip from Calcatoggio through Vico then to Evisa for lunch and then back through Marignana to Cristinacce down to Sagone and back along the coast to Calcatoggio.....this was our day trip. Our first stop was a winery called Clos d'Alzeto....we saw a sign and decided to pop in....i tried a rose and kim tried a red...both Ajacco region and we decided to buy a small 50cl bottle of the rose, i must say the wines have been surprisingly good....unexpected. The guy that was in the shop doing the tasting explained to us that they also have grapes in the Patriomonio region and they are one of the three oldest wineries in Corsica....very exciting i thought. A beautiful cellar where we could see some barrels and some of the equipment where they fill the wine....let me share a pic.... Round trip to Ajacco....we would drive from Calcatoggio to Ajacco and then back to Calcatoggio again.....but slighly different routes. Ajacco is the capital city of Corsica and hence it is a little bit bigger, also a lot more commercial. This is is the city where Napoleon was born...so there is his house which has been turned into a museum that you can visit....however, Kim and i just missed the entrance time and we did not want to wait for the opening in the afternoon.....but let's start from the beginning. On the way there we went the fastest route which was over the mountains. Arrival there inwas so excited to see the market.....its full of cheese and charcuterie stands....and some fruits and vegetables...so down my line....hahaha. Of course we tried the cheeses...the brebis and the chevre....and they were just amazing...and the various cold cuts...sausages, salami and lonzu...all very very yummie....let me share some pics of the market....
