Athens and tiny bit of Ismir

Image
So.....Athens....interesting...totally not what i expected.....i thought white buildings with blue roofs.....like Mykonos and lots of old ruins with columns....not sure where i got that idea from.....hmmmmm......so the port we were docked at was called Piraeus...from there it was about a 20min walk to the metro which would cost about 1 Euro...or go by Hop on Hop off which would cost about 12 Euros....i decided i have done so many metros....im def no fool...ill do the metro...managed to get there in good time and took the metro which took me 15min, cost me 1.4 Euros....cannot complain....from there it was about a 30min uphill walk to the Acropolis.....i must say...it is beautiful....but i expected more.....i just felt let down....not sure whether that was just me....we all had different schedules...so most of us were on our own...that might have also contributed to the factor...cause i think with a friend it would have been nicer.....i of course bought the ticket to go inside the ruins...

Dubrovnik encore

Image
So....of course let's start with wot has been happening....actually quite a bit....so this might be a lengthy one....so you better have time..or close it and read when u have time...rushing is no fun....haha..... So ill give u a quick run down wot im gonna write about...i think im doing it more for me...cause i think i might forget otherwise...recap of Venice, Jasmine dinner, passport revolution, Dubrovnik and girls nite at a guest cabin (specifially, a mini-suite)....sound interesting...then carry on reading..... So Saturday Venice was ok...the only reason was cause we struggled to get off the ship, they forgot to open the gangway for crew so we had to wait until 930 until all guests had left (gone home), mission and a half....finally out it was then a little rushed, i had a great cappucino and chocolate croissant (yes croissant not cornetti), so although i didnt have much time out, the time i did have was fun......just miss the fact that i didnt find a little bit of mozarella to...

Greek Islands

Image
So....the Greek island run is finished.....the itinerary was nice.....Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos and Katakolon....i def cannot wait to see Santorini, i hope that my next schedule, when we do the Greek island run again, will be better so that i can get off.....the next run however includes Turkey, Croatia and Greece, Athens....im very excited for that too...i hear it is very beautiful....so lets hope my schedule is nice.....ill get it soon..... Katakolon....easy explained...consists of 3 parallel streets, first street is on the sea with all restaurants, one after the another, next street is full of souvenir shops, one after another and the third street has coffee shops and ice cream shops....haha....all together it will take you about an hour to see it.....so we knew this before we arrived...so the plan was to get off the ship at 9am and go for some breakfast and good coffee.....well the plan was good....the execution...interesting.... Places in Greece do not open early....that is if yo...

Mykonos

So before i start on Mykanos here is a quick update on my last 2 days.....So....first Corfu, i managed to have a greek macchiato and find some internet before the 10am crew drill....so that was successful....Greek macchiato, amazing...cannot complain, here is one pic from Corfu....its about as much as i saw...haha...town was 30min walk...no way i was gonna manage.... Oh yes....almost forgot....sushi last nite, fab, had the catepillar role, eel and cucumber with avo on top...dessert greentea cake, so nice and fluffy, forgot to take a pic...next time...just so that i can make you all jealous....just kidding, just so u know what im talking about...but in all honesty more to make u jealous.... Santorini sucked big time...i had training from 10 until 12, then i had work from 1330 until 9pm with 30min dinner break....and i had to eat all by myself....dina and marnie were ashore (santorini is 1330 until 10pm), julia had her 30min break just before me and anastasia just after me...and no way w...

Koper & Venice

Image
So, yesterday was Koper, again my luck of the draw, i had 2hrs from 8 until 10 cause at 10:15 i had to be at work. So, first obstacle was to get off from the ship and why was that an obstacle because it took very long in customs to clear the ship, when it was finally cleared it was a mission cause everyone had to show original Passport... Now that was another mission for some of my friends.... Why? When you arrive on the ship, they take away your passport so that you cant just escape and to get your passport you can only go with a signed letter from management etc etc etc, so lucky me, i handed in my Swiss passport and exited with my American passport, no problemo for me. Koper was very tiny, but very cute at the same time, again the architecture is what i loved so much, the houses looked like they were falling apart but i guess that is the whole character. Of course we decided we have to try the cappucino....verdict.... Very nice.... Such strong coffee and foam was ok....... Still...

Norwegian Jade

Image
So.... As you might know, the ship that i am on is called Norwegian Jade. On Saturday we are startibg with the proper summer itinerary... I will tell you about that next time. We will alternate teo different cruises every week, but always starting and ending in Venice. Today, we were in Split, Croatia. However, we anchored which means we had to tender guests on kand, and of course guests always take preference over crew so we have zo wait for open tender, which today was at 10am, i started shift at 11:15 so there was no way that i could get off the ship.... Oh well, seeing that the ship was almost empty, only 110 guests on boatd, yes we can check that, we are allowed to tan on the open deck where guests normally are and i didnt have to go to crew pool area. I took some pics from Split and from the outer deck... After my first shift, the ship was almost full again, but weather still perfect so i tanned some more, this time at the crew area though, which was fab, no wind, good view ...
